What are we learning?

This course is a five-evening class, aimed at beginners and intermediates to Blender and 3D.

We will a) learn the bare essentials of Blender, and b) dip our toes into advanced subjects such as animation and lighting subjects. Throughout the course there will be some time and guidance to pursue one’s own interests.

I will try introduce a theoretical component to our new 3D skills. How can we consider technology critically, and how should we percieve this new tool? How is tech a part of my life, and are there any contemporary artists discussing these questions?

What is Blender?

Blender is an open-source (e.g. free) 3D program that can be used to model, sculpt, texture, animate and simulate – tons of things. This also makes it very difficult to know where to start.

In this course you have the opportunity to learn the fundamental basics of using Blender, with an instructor to guide you, and help you on if you get stuck.

Who am I?

I’m Jonathan Vitting Nielsen, I’m attending Det Jyske Kunstakademi. I have been working extensively with Blender and 3D for three years. In my practice, I try to investigate the notions of synthetic skin, and I am particularily interested in 3D portraiture.
